Doug meets Tony Bourdain from the Travel Channel

As I travel the world in search of unique Real Estate opportunities I often have the pleasure of eating unique and local foods. I still remember seeing Scorpion and Seahorse fried on a Stick in a back street China food market. One of my favorite TV shows is No Reservations on the Travel Channel. Anthony Bourdain is the host of that unique show. Last night I had a chance to meet and chat with Tony.

Douglas Doebler and Anthony Bourdain

Tony travels the world in search of some of the oddest food delicacy. His show is a mix of travel and unique food adventure. "Real cooking said Bourdain, is not about doing simple things with the best ingredients, like filet mignon, it's about turning the inexpensive and ugly and yucky things like organs and tongue and brains into something delicious and interesting".

How did I happen to meet Anthony Bourdain?

I was reading the paper yesterday and saw an article by Jack Garner. Jack was staff film critic at the Democrat and Chronicle for 30 years before he retired in June, 2007. He continues to write for the paper as a freelancer. This is article he wrote yesterday about the upcoming appearance. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2009911200310

I read that and before I knew it, I was getting tickets!
